Styling a colourful flatlay
I love styling flat lays and arranging props for a shoot. I like to think that setting up and styling a shoot is quite like creating an artwork, which you can then capture and enhance through photography.
I’ve previously shared some of my top flatlay photography tips here: rebeccaleecreative.com/blog/flatlay
This shoot is a little different to my usual minimal and simple flatlays - I wanted to capture as much colour and detail as possible, it’s like a ‘Where’s Wally’ picture with lots of treasures from my big wooden box of inspiration.
I’m passionate about helping brands share their vision with beautiful photography - if you’d like to know more about my photography services you can view more here or via the button below.
To create this layout I started with the biggest pieces on the bottom layer, such as plates, books, frames and larger artworks. I then layered smaller elements on top and finished with small stamps and washi tape.
I set this all up on a 600 x 900mm white board under my window with a reflector positioned to bounce back the natural light. I also set up a LED light behind a diffuser because the sun kept slipping behind the clouds and I needed a little extra light. You can check out a behind the scenes video of the shoot in the video below.
